Are People Leaving RV Life?
We keep hearing from the "big" RV Channels that there is, right now or about to happen, a mass exodus of full-time RV'ers. The reasons they're giving is that "It becomes the same thing over and over after a while" and "People are getting bored with RV Life". Well, they're not supplying any statistics or actual evidence of this so it's all starting to look like a "click bait" campaign! Are people leaving RV Life? Let's look into that.
"RV living is all about the journey, not the destination. It's about experiencing new places and meeting new people."
- Jon Miller, author of "The RV Handbook"
Post vs Pre Pandemic RV Sales
Let me tell you what we're seeing from actual experience. Yes, MANY people bought RV's in 2020 & 2021, during the Covid pandemic. Yes, many of those same people bought RV's as a knee-jerk reaction to what they perceived as a possible "end of the world" event. They also bought them as a way to isolate during the pandemic and they worked for that purpose. This article discusses the influences that the pandemic had on RV Sales. However, many of those same people, once the pandemic subsided, realized that full-time RV life wasn't for them so they returned to their "sticks & bricks" regular lives.
As for people getting "bored" with full-time RV'ing, I find that utterly ridiculous! If you've seen all of your "bucket list" things (i.e. "The Grand Canyon" or "Mt. Rushmore") then start looking for the smaller, less popular things that you never knew you wanted to see!
"The RV life is not for everyone, but for those who are willing to embrace it, it can be an incredibly rewarding experience."
- RVillage, a forum for RVers
So, are people leaving RV Life? No, we don't think so! Full-time RV'ing opens unlimited possibilities to explore the world! You literally have a home on wheels! Take it somewhere interesting! Just don't tell us you're "bored" because, if you are, that's your fault.
