Review of SixThreeZero Electric Tricycle
Cindy wanted to get some more exercise and get out more so we purchased an electric tricycle. She didn't feel confident enough in her balance and ability to ride a conventional bike so the trike was the next best option.
Cindy had originally seen a woman in Las Cruces, New Mexico riding a trike with her little dog (Bucky's soulmate Sheba) in the basket and immediately thought "that's for me!". It wasn't until we returned to New Mexico, however, that we made the purchase.
Cindy chose the SixThreeZero electric assist trike. It can be ridden conventionally, using only pedal power, with pedal assist or driven solely by the motor.
The trike arrived requiring assembly (we knew it would). However, the instructions for assembly were terrible. There were only poorly drawn illustrations essentially showing "put this part into this part". Naturally, we chose the hottest day of the year in Albuquerque, NM to assemble the trike. After several hours of "Try & try again", the trike was assembled and ready to go.
The basket on the back, a feature that Cindy really wanted, was assembled using metal clips. We quickly discovered that these clips were NOT sufficient to hold the basket together and replaced them with heavy duty zip ties. There was no instruction, either in the package or on-line indicating how to properly adjust the brakes and they were not working properly. Additionally, every time Cindy wanted to use the trike, we had to re-inflate all three tires.
Cindy contacted the company regarding the tire issue and made it clear that all three tires would not hold air. The company sent ONE inner tube. Definitely not the response we expected.
Finally, we gave up on the company satisfying our needs and contacted a local, mobile bicycle technician. He came to us, gave the trike an end-to-end tune up, replaced the inner tubes and added tire liners since the majority of Cindy's riding would be done in a desert atmosphere where cactus needles are prevalent. This cost an additional nearly $400 on top of the $2200 we paid for the trike.
Overall, we would NOT recommend SixThreeZero nor would we recommend buying a tricycle or bicycle solely on-line! If you're interested in purchasing a tricycle or bicycle, go to a store where you can try it out and actually "touch & feel" it.
